Puckstoppers was started back in 1988 by Chris Dyson, who was a goaltender that loved (and still loves) to play. In 1990, the need for local year round goaltending training became apparent and Puckstoppers opened a Year Round Goaltender Training Facility. This facility allowed one on one training with an instructor in a controlled environment with a puckshooting machine and plastic ice surface. Consistent and intense work has developed several high calibre young goaltenders over the years and helped countless young (and older) goalies to enjoy the game even more through the improved skills and technique taught at the Centre, which is still going strong and is turning out hundreds of happy students annually.
Puckstoppers trains hundreds of goaltenders annually, from Tyke to Pro. It isn't unusual to see several goaltenders from other countries at the annual schools and Training Centre's private lessons.
We are now recognized as one of the leaders in our field and this has been a blessing to our company, its employees and our students. We have been fortunate to have met, worked with and been involved with some of the biggest names in the sport, all because of a dream to make kids better goalies and to stay involved in the game we love.
Being invited to Wayne Gretzky's inauguration into the Hockey Hall of Fame, being invited to the NHL awards and sitting with the best in the game, having lunch with Dominik Hasek, having 7 time Stanley Cup champion Bryan Trottier over to Puckstoppers’ president, Chris Dyson’s home for a weekend BBQ, having the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation invite Chris Dyson for a week long tour of Finland and presenting multiple goalie clinics for the best goalies in the country and playing summer hockey with many pro players are only a few of the fondest memories in company history.
Puckstoppers President, Chris Dyson, regularly speaks to audiences around the world on the subject of effective coaching, keeping children in the game and the long lasting affects a coach can have on a young athlete. Audiences of 500+ have been enthralled with his passionate presentation, philosophies and riveting commentary on hockey and minor sports in general.
Some recent locations Chris has spoken at include: Amsterdam, United Kingdom, Sweden, India, Scotland, Singapore, Finland, Philippines, USA, and Canada.
